They are hand drawn in color with amazing detail on lined paper. He produced dozens of maps depicting Civil War Battles.

Among the maps we discovered several that detailed the area around Kellysville, Culpeper County, Virginia. This was just north of land belonging to the Field family south of Mountain Run on Fields Mill Road.

We have pinpointed two areas of special significance to the Field family of Culpeper County, Virginia; the Kelly/Field Cemetery and land belonging to three Field brothers where the Old Field Burying Grounds is located.

After careful study of records in our possession, we feel that the Field brothers, Capt. Abraham Field (bef. 1699-1774), Daniel Field ( -abt. 1733) and Capt. Henry Field, Sr. (abt. 1710-1790), sons of Daniel Field (1663-1720) and the grandsons of Abraham Field (1636-1774), both of Westmoreland County, Virginia, were the original owners of this land. The land on which the Kelly/Field cemetery is located was originally that of Capt. Abraham Field who was granted a patented to the land in 1722. The land where the Field Burying Ground is located was that of Daniel Field and Capt. Henry Field Sr., who together, patented the land in 1719.

These maps encompass the Field land. Click each map for a larger view.

For information about the connection between William Peasner and the Culpeper Field family click here.

Related Links:

Discovering the Kelly/Field Cemetery & the Old Field Burrying Ground
Field Cemetery, Culpeper County, Virgnia
Kelly/Field Cemetery, Culpeper County, Virgnia
Land belonging the Field Family in Culpeper County, Virginia.
Letters from Emma Mastin Walker to Eugene and Lucie Field, 1998

These maps are held by the Virginia Historical Society, P.O.
