Luther Cemetery is on Murvihill Rd. (County Road E. 100 N.) south of Valparaiso, Porter County, Indiana. It is a small cemetery and not well kept up. It as been damaged either by people knocking over tombstones or severe winds. Most of the stones that mark graves of people related to the Field family are smaller stones and have not been damaged.

There are two families of interest to us buried in the Luther Cemetery. The Green Family and the Whitcomb Family. A large number of the Green Family is buried here with the oldest being Christian and Christina Seigal Green who were both born in Germany.

Their granddaugthter, Elizabeth Maud Green, was the first wife of George Nelson Field. George was a son of George and Lavica Hinkle Field. George Nelson's brother, Arthur Clarence, married Mary Estella "Mamaie" Whitcomb. The Whitcomb family also has several members buried here.

Arthur Clarence and George Nelson Field are both buried in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Valparaiso, Porter County, Indiana. Each had a second wife. Arthur Clarence married Adelaide M. Austin and George Nelson married Alberta Mitchel MacCausland. The wives are both buried in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

There are other families buried here, the Goetz family, Powell Family and the Porch Family. We conjectured as to how they related to the Green Family. If anyone reading this web page knows of mistake we have made please let us know.

Christian Green was born in Germany 12 March 1928. He married Christina Seigal. He died 25 December 1895.

Mother/Christina/Jan. 8, 1830-Nov. 2, 1912

Christian Siegal Green was born in Germany 8 January 1830. She died 2 November 1912 in Porter County, Indiana.

Father/Lewis M. Green/1863-1950

Lewis M. Green was born in Porter County, Indiana, in 1863. His parents were Christian and Christina Seigal Green. He married Della A. Jones. He died in 1950.

Lewis and Della's daughter, Elizabeth Maud Green, married George Nelson Field the uncle of Howard Allen Field.

Mother/Della A. Green/1867-1944

Della A. Jones was born November, 1867, in Porter County, Indiana. Her mother was Angeline Jones. We do now know her father's first name. She died in 1944.

Sister/Elizabeth/Sept. 28, 1858/Apr. 27/1926

Elizabeth Green was born 28 September 1858 in Indiana. Her parents were Christian and Christina Siegal Green. She died 27 April 1926 in Vlaparaiso, Porter County, Indiana.

Field/E. Maud (Green)/1891-1981

Elizabeth Maud Green was born 27 September 1891 in Valparaiso, Porter County, Indiana. Her parents were Lewis M. and Delia A. Jones Green. She married George Nelson Field 23 May 1913 in Valpariaiso. She died 9 September 1981 in Florida.

George M. Green was born in Indiana, in 1898. His parents were Lewis M. and Delia A. Jones Green. He married Laura H. Taylor. He died in 1951.

Phyllis Green Powell was born in 1924 in Indiana. Her parents were George M. and Laura Taylor Green. She died in 2004.
