Leslie Field was the eldest child of Harvey Oliver Field and Marie Jeanette Eddy. He was born in Valparaiso, Porter County, Indiana. He graduated from Valparaiso High School. He moved with the family to Nappanee, Elkhart County, Indiana, in July of 1927.
He married Wanda Gene Minard 26 April 1934. He worked at the Nappanee Advance-News for several years before opening a shoe store in Marion, Indiana. He worked with crippled children in Marion fitting them with special shoes. He was an avid bridge player and took the game extremely seriously. Les and Howard were close as brothers their entire lives.

Les was the older brother of Howard, the husband of Miriam Grasz Field, to whom this website is dedicated.
