I am wondering if there is anyone out there who was ever a member of the Life Guards, stationed either at Windsor or Knightbridge barracks in England. This would be during WW1 or thereafter. Maybe a relative. My father was Corporal of Horse, Bertie George Field. I don't have any pictures of him and wondered if anyone out there knew of him. Any information you have would be truly appreciated. Thank you. |

I was doing research for our family tree. The cemetery listed in my notes is "Hiland" stating that it's "possibly" in Terre Haute, IN. I did an internet search and found your sight. The names I am looking for are Rebecca J Mitchell born Oct 30, 1870 Also Enoch M. Mitchell Born Feb 7, 1868 Married to Belle Gillespie I don't know if you do any "looking up" for other people, but if you ever have the time and you can find anything on these people, even if it's just to confirm that they are buried in Highland and would care to let me know, that would be great! Thank you for your consideration. Lycia |

My mother was Ethelyn Steelman Howard born in Patoka. She was the daughter of Muril M. Steelman and Ruth Ethel Horrall. Her grandparents were Mark Steelman and Lucy Adeline Knaub (for whom I am named). At sometime my mother had a copy of the last will and testment of Andrew Steelman, of the Township of Great Egg Harbor, in the County of Gloucester, and Province of West New Jersy dated 1732. There were a few words that were unreadable but I have copied it again. Do you want to see the document. You can Email me. According to my mothers oral history she said that Norman Keith Knaub had married Elizabeth Jacobs McCartney. Perhaps Caroline and Elizabeth are one in the same person. I have the names of nine of the 12 children and my great grandmother is Lucy Adeline Knaub Steelmen. It was so much fun to find your web sight and if you are interested I can fill in more history that I know. Sincerely, Lucy Strait |

At the age of 3 score and ten I am starting a genealogical survey of my part of the FIELD family, especially as my grandson, now almost 15 yrs old, is last of the line. Mt grandfather Albert Edwin FIELD was wounded in the first world war (WW1) and died in hospital 3 weeks before the nend of the war. A.E.FIELD was born in Cleethorpes, a seaside resort, next door to Grimsby, in 1878, his sister Sarah Ann FIELD born in 1870, also born in Cleethorpes. I believe that Albert and Sarah were grandchildren of a Mary BURGESS of Cleethorpes. Albert Edwin married Elizabeth THOM(P)SON also of Cleethorpes. Sometime later they moved to live in Grimsby. I vaguely remember that as a 5 year old i saw her once or twice. If anyone has any information of possible movements of my FIELD connections, please let me know. Meanwhile continue with your tremendous work. Bryan Rob |

I am the fifth generation from Harry Field Sr. Vestryman of Culpepper County through Henry Jr. of Culpepper, Thomas of Culpepper and Peterburgh, VA (married Winfield Scott's sister and then neice), Henry of Petersburgh, Va, Alabama, Canton, Miss., Henry of Canton, Miss and Calvert, Tx and Hugh of Calvert and Temple, Tx, my father. You asked for additional information, I am sure you know of the Pierce biography calle "The Field Family" published in 1905 which has considerable information (and misinformation) on the Culpepper branch. There was, for a while, a Field family letter circulated on the internet and one of these issues tries to straighten out the Daniel Field problem which I understand Pierce got wrong by a generahtion. If you want I will try to locate a copy of the e-mail and forward it to you. I am not sure how much help it is as I do not remember that it had any solid references. My one contribution is the location of the descendents of Thomas Field, son of Henry |

Lucie, Hi, I'm the guy that recovered all of the Field and Hitch stones and cleaned up the Morrison/Field cem. My brother and I grew up watching our grandfather and father try to clean up the old graveyard every year or two. Well, when we inherited the job, I said there must be an easier way. We rented a small tractor for a day and then is when we found all of the stones that you are referring to. (most were under the sod. The graveyard was a mess, but after finding out that there were vets in there, we encouraged the county to keep it cleaned. David Morrison and Jane are my GG Grandparents and Rachel was my great aunt. I have a family photo of them and a digital camera so let me know if you are interested. My brother and I are very proud of this cemetery and hope to rework another next year if all goes well. This site was referred to me by a lady in S.Carolina and I was really glad to here about the Keen Field research. Let me know about what I can do to get info on |

I am researching the ancestors of Daniel -&- Jane Unknown FIELD, probably of East Peckham, Kent County, England. I do not have their marriage date or the birth date and location of either Daniel or Jane. The children I haver listed for them are Eliza b 22 Feb 1801; Ann b 29 May 1803; William b 17 Feb 1805; Jane b 26 Feb 1818; and Richard b 8 Sep 1811. I assume all of the ren were born in East Peckham, Surrey. Richard would be my GG Grandfather and Daniel my GGG Grandfather. I have a considerable descendant update on part of this Field line that I would willingly trade for ancestral information. I have several other lines of the Family that come from the Cornwall, Kent, Somersetshire, Surrey, Sussex, and Wilshire areas. Respectfully Dr. Dixon G. STEVENS P. O. My grandmother's maiden name was Geneva Field. She married my grandfather, Dr. Fred Wildanger. I believe she had two sisters. We have been unable to trace her ancestry. She came from either the Chicago area or the state of Michigan. My grandfather trained in medicine at Northwestern University, after a course in nursing at a Seventh Day Adventist hospital. He and Geneva met at this latter hospital and married before he began at Northwestern University. He served his internship at Cooke County Hospital while my grandmother worked to support their family as a matron in the Cooke County Jail. One aspect of my grandmother that has always intrigued me was her knowledge of the poetry of Eugene Field. |

Dear Lucie It's nice to see you've made so much effort into producing such a wonderful website. So far my father and I have managed to trace our family history back to Thomas Field (son of John and Elizabeth Field) born in Bath, England in 1808. I was born on 13th March 1966 at Charing Cross (Old) Hospital, Hammersmith, London, England to Dr Graham John Field (2.7.1941 @ Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, England) and Ruth Margaret Field (nee Earl) (15.7.1940 @ Lake Victoria, Uganda). I have a younger sister, Yvonne Marian Field (11.01.1968 @ Margate, Kent, England) If you have any further information on your English side of things I would be more than grateful. Just reading through your website I see you have French relatives (certainly in the past) and wonder if any of them were "Cottee"? It goes without saying that if we find any links to your side I will naturally pass them on. Good luck with your research. Bye for now Kindest Regards Colin Field |

Wonderful site!! I've been working on our line for quite a few years!! But, I can't seem to be able to find our Michael Hinkle's parents. In the 1880 census, Chambers Co., AL, he tells us that he was born in TN in abt. 1802, and that both of his parents were born in VA. Maybe, someone out there could help me. Thenks, Lucy Hinkle Custard |

I am interested in locating information on Nathan Gibson (spouse-Mary "Polly" Linville), born 1795 in or around Wythe Co., Virginia. When I call up this name, or Jonathan Hurley, or Benjamin Harrison White I seem to come up with the same files but I have been unable to make a decent connection. I'll take any help I can get. Thanks. |

Bradley Grass U.E. | 16/Jun/1999:09:44:06
I am a decendant of Michael Grass who left the Mohawk valley of New York Colony during the American Revolution. He first took his family to New York City and then led of a group of 1000 people to Kingston, Ontario. Michael first landed at Philedelphia around 1752 with at least one brother and perhaps two. We have no leads to his brothers descendants. Michael came from Strasburg, Germany and his original name as Graffe or grass in Germain. Michael's family is well researched and documented. |

I really enjoy your website.
It is one of the finest family history sites I have ever seen. It is well
organized and useful both to your family and to others who are interested
in American history. I notice that you have many Indiana county cemetery
links. If you would like to add a link to Franklin County, Indiana, I offer
the following URL: http://members.aol.com/elasabe/fccem.htm Best wishes! Larry Christensen San Diego, CA |

Lucie, you have done a marvelous job with your website. The pictures are so wonderful. The Fields looks are passed down through all of the family. I know that your line and mine are related, but exactly how I don't exactly remember. I believe the resemblance between your Keen and my great grandfather Howard Fields(picture on my site)is remarkable! My Fields are as follows: My grandfather Alexander Campbell Fields b. 1886 Ind.m. M. Hatfield His father Howard Fields b. 1857 Ind m. Carolyn Strosnider His father William Fields b. 1809 m. Emily Armstrong (Greene Co. Ind) His father was Rev. Soldier, Stephen Fields who married Sarah Short. This is a fascinating and proud family, and I am happy to see another Fields researcher having such wonderful information to share. I have been doing genealogy for 40 years and will check my folders for you, as I remember others with info on Keen Fields corresponding with me in years gone by. Keep up the great work. Nancy |

Born to Thelma C. Fields (maiden name) and Julian F. Wheaton in 1944. Lived with Grandfather William A. Fields and Grandmother Dorothy Fields (Doolan-maiden name) and many Uncles and cousins--Most notably Ellsworth Fields,John Fields,Edward Fields, et al. My grandfather was from Culpepper, Virginia. The farm I grew up on with him was in Fairfax,Virginia. My granfather "Bill" Fields died when I was ten--That was in 1954. He must have been born somewhere in the range of 1884-1894 and he worked as a trolley conductor in Washington D.C. but we can't find too much on him because there was some big family fight over his sister when he was very young. I tried your site to no avail. Did some of the Field change to Fields at a latter date? we thought he originally migrated from upper-state New York? My grandmother passed away several years ago and my mother last year. There is only one Aunt left in Florida somewhere but she does not communicate very well. I wonder where to start? I thought I |

Looks like there is a family connection with my Squibb family from Marion, OH. Charlotte Squibb was the daughter of Nancy Hines Squibb later Fields. Joseph Grass, Charlotte's husband, was born on 22 Nov 1851 and died on 5 Aug 1929, I have a copy of his obit that was published in the Community Farm News (Mentone, IN.) on 14 Aug 1929. Rhonda Field Goldfus | 22/Feb/1999:10:32:13
Our Field lineage dates back so far to March 26, 1809, with my great, great grandfather, Walter Field.Born in Adams County,Town of Vergennes, Vermont. Parentage unknown at this time. Married Elvira Penso of Madrid, Spain on Oct 22, 1855. Children born to them in London, England, and Kingston, Jamaica. Walter was said to have run with the Ethan Allen Boys in Vermont and with the Tories. Great grandfather, Reginald Arthur was a coffeesalesman in Jamaica in his younger years and then moved to Buffalo, NY and then retired to Ridgeway,Crystal Beach, Ontario, Canada. I know great aunt Octavia moved to California and lived there at least in the 1930's. It's nice to meet you on line. Thank you for all your information on your end of the Field family tree. Continued success! Rhonda Field Goldfuss |
