The first piece of information is about the marriage of Winfield S. Sisson and Maryetta Knaub. This wedding took place 18 September 1878. It is interesting that the newspaper just has a blank line for the first name of the bride. Someone, probably Lavica, has written on the blank line "Marietta", but it is not very clear. Maryetta was a daughter of Norman and Caroline Knaub and was a sister of George's first wife Sarah Jane Knaub.

The next paragraph reports that Mr. W. H. H. Depriest took a trip. William, or "Billy", as he is referred to in the paper, was married to Galatia Sanders, a daughter of Amanda Dills and William Sanders. After William Sanders died Amanda became the third wife of Benjamin R. Field, George's father. Another interesting twist in the complex relationships of the Gibson county population was that Alice Grey Sanders, another daughter of William and Amanda, married David T. R. Brown the brother of Lydia Ellen Brown, Benjamin's first wife and George's mother. That made Alice his stepsister and his aunt.

The third paragraph of news that is of interest to Lavica is about the death of Amanda Dills Sanders Field, George's step mother.

The clipping on the right is from a different newspaper and it records the issuing of the marriage license for George and Lavica on 19 January 1881 in Gibson County, Indiana.
