Henry Grass "Hank" was born 6 October 1842 in Alliance, Stark County, Ohio. His parents were Lewis and Louisa Oberlander Gross. He married Mary Iriwn, 28 March 1869. He died 3 March 1910 at the Indiana State Soldiers Home in Lafeyette, Indiana.

Mary "Mollie" Dorcas Irwin was born 31 October 1846 in Hancock County, Indiana. Her parents were Richard and Leodicia Stafford Irwin. Mary died 28 March 1922 at the Indiana State Soldiers Home in Lafayette, Indiana. Henry and Mary were the grandparents of Miriam Grasz Field.
