Abraham Field and Augustine Washington
Wakefield House, a reconstruction of a house similar to that of Augustine Washington
Abraham Field's property was just south of Wakefield Estate which is now the George Washington Birthplace National Monument. This land was purchased by both Abraham Field and Christopher Butler. Jane Butler was Augustine Washington's first wife. We do not know her exact relatioship to the other Butlers of this area. George Washington's father, Augustine, had land also fronting on Pope's Creek. On the map showing Abraham's land there are also several properties that belong to the Butler Family. Two years after Jane's death Augustine married Mary Ball, George's mother. Her father was Joseph Ball and land belonging the Ball family is also very close to Abraham Field's property.
