Daniel Field was the third child of Abraham Field (1637-1674).1 He was born about 1663 in Westmoreland County, Virginia.2 As far as we know he resided in Washington Parish, Westmoreland County, Virginia throughout his life.

Daniel begins to appear in Westmoreland County records in 1690. For a period of ten years many of the entries record suits against Daniel for various unpaid debts. One of the more interesting ones involves an attachment that was granted to Robert Brent against Daniel Field's estate because Daniel did not appear in court to answer the suit against him. Robert Brent (1660-1695-96) was the 8th great-grand uncle of Lucie C. Field on her maternal side.3 (Descendants of Richard Brent)

Daniel’s first wife was a Mary. He married her sometime after 1692.4 There is no record of Mary’s death. Based upon the fact that his last child, Abraham, was born about 1699, this Mary is probably the mother of his natural children. Their children were: Daniel,5 Joyce, wife of Joshua Hudson,6 Henry7 and Abraham (bef 1699-1774).8 It is from Abraham that we descend.

Sometime before 1702, he married Mary Alday.9 She had been married previously to Evan Price10 and Edward Wheeler. Records show that on 12 May 1708, Daniel Field turned over land to Henry and John Wheeler which their father, Edward Wheeler, had left them in his will. The two Wheeler brothers must have reached majority by this time, thus giving them the full right to the land.12

Daniel owned land on Popes Creek, Westmoreland County, Virginia. He willed this land to his son Daniel. He owned several parcels of land in Westmoreland and Stafford Counties, Virginia which he willed to various of his children.13

Daniel died June 1720, Westmoreland County, Virginia.14 Records show that on 17 April 1720, he wrote his will and it was proved 19 June 1720.15 He is most likely burried somewhere in Westmoreland County, Virginia. (Click on map for larger image)
