Guy D. Hinkle (1874-1906) was the fourth child of John (1842-1909) and Mary Jennie Shoemaker Hinkle (1846-1923). He was born in Gibson County, Indiana, and died as the result of a bullet shot to the head from the gun of Frank Carist, in Valparaiso, Porter County, Indiana.

Earlier in his life Guy had been a farm laborer. At the time of his demise he was a railroad worker for the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. He was never married. He lived at 1003 Oak St., Valparaiso, Indiana, next door to George and Lavica Hinkle Field. John and Lavica Hinkle were brother and sister.

This article was provided by Bradley Field, a great grandson of George and Lavica Hinkle Field. The article is part of a scrap book which is a book on swine diseases that we think was used by Lavica Hinkle Field to paste in articles of interest to her. For years this book sat on top of the piano in the living room of Harvey and Marie Field in Nappanee. We are grateful to Bradley for sharing the contents of this valuable book with us. It is a gold mine of information on various members of the Field family, friends and relatives.

We want to thank Brad Field for his efforts at scanning the articles and giving us permission to use them here in Lucie's Genealogy.
