Grace A. Field was the eigth and last child of Benjamin R. and Lydia Ellen Brown Field. She was born in 1867 and died in 1889. She was the youngest sister of George Field. She married James S. Smith on 27 January 1886. Grace and James had just one child, Allie May. Allie is the only grandchild that Benjamin mentions in his will. This article also reports another death, Sarah E. Turpen, who was also a child of Benjamin and Lydia. Sarah was married to William H. Turpin. She had no children.
Experiencing the death of a loved one is extremely difficult. Between the ages of 5 and 54 George experienced the death of 19 close family members. Nine of his brothers and sisters died. He lost his mother and 3 step mothers, his father, two children and a sister-in-law also died. That is an amazing number of family members to lose.
